A Luta de Um Homem por Software Livre</a> (por John Markoff) &ndash; um
artigo sobre Richard Stallman e seu desenvolvimento inicial do GNU,
publicado no <cite>The New York Times</cite> em 11 de Janeiro de 1989. Um
problema com este artigo é que ele usa o termo de propaganda “propriedade
intelectual” como se referisse a algo coerente. O termo é tão confuso que
falar sobre ele <a href="/philosophy/not-ipr.html">não faz nenhum
sentido</a>. O artigo é de um modo confuso em relação à Symbolics. O que
Richard Stallman fez, quando ele ainda trabalhava no MIT, foi escrever, de
forma independente, melhoras comparáveis às melhoras que Symbolics fez em
sua versão da Máquina Lisp do MIT.</li>
</ul>

<p>Aqui estão duas publicações que Stallman escreveu para um quadro de avisos
em Stanford enquanto ele estava visitando o local em Maio de 1983. Elas
