De FSF is ook tegen deze voorstellen maar we hebben de verklaring niet
ondertekend omdat die ons niet ver genoeg gaat. Europese wetgeving is al
veel te beperkend dus alleen strijden tegen nog meer beperkingen is niet
genoeg. Het is fout om mensen te verbieden muziek en ander uitgegeven werk
te delen. Alleen draconische maatregelen zal mensen hiervan weerhouden. Het
is dus geen verrassing dat dit soort maatregelen nu worden voorgesteld. Maar
om alleen die maatregelen te bestrijden en niet de oorzaak ervan is
onvoldoende. Zelfs het gebruik van de term “intellectueel
eigendom” is al bedenkelijk omdat het een <a
href="/philosophy/words-to-avoid.html#IntellectualProperty">
propagandakreet</a> is die wordt gebruikt door degenen die deze beperkingen
nastreven.
