      3 <h1>2025-04: Taler Mailbox and Directory service released</h1>

      5 We are happy to announce the release of two new GNU Taler components:
      6 The Taler Directory (TalDir) and Mailbox services.
      7 The Taler Wallet will be integrated in future versions to interact with the Taler Directory and
      8 Mailbox in order to deliver a smooth user experience for Peer-to-Peer payments.

     10 <h4>The Taler Directory service</h4>
     11 <p>
     12 The Taler Directory is an alias lookup service that allows Taler wallets to securely associate an inbox service (URL and public key) with the address of a messaging service used by the wallet’s user (the Mailbox service).
     13 Wallets can also lookup the inbox of other users. This will enable wallets to make wallet-to-wallet payments to distant wallets where the target user is only identified by their address in a messaging service. Examples for messaging services include E-mail and SMS.

     15 <h4>The Taler Mailbox service</h4>

     17 The Taler Mailbox allows Taler wallets to securely send push and pull payment requests to other wallets without having to interact with the respective messaging service.
