1 Title: 2 ====== 3 4 Unchained Digital Cash Payments 5 6 7 Abstract: 8 ========= 9 10 In this workshop we will demonstrate the GNU Taler payment system. GNU Taler 11 is an open protocol implementing digital cash in Free/Libre Open Source. The 12 system is developed by a global community and is about to be deployed in 13 Europe. 14 15 GNU Taler will re-shape the commercial Internet: Its immediate and privay-preserving 16 micro-payments will enable business models beyond advertising for small-value 17 transactions. Its easy-to-use token-based payments will enable service 18 providers to charge both human and bot users for access. 19 20 In our workshop, you will learn how to withdraw digital cash, pay online or in 21 person with improved usability and security. We will also explain how 22 to integrate GNU Taler into new applications and show some highlights of 23 ongoing developments and how you can participate. 24 25 26 Presenters: 27 =========== 28 29 Emmanuel Benoist is professor for computer science at the Bern University of 30 Applied Sciences, researching in the area of privacy and anti-privacy on the Internet. 31 32 Christian Grothoff is professor for computer network security at the 33 Bern University of Applied Sciences, researching future Internet 34 architectures. He is a GNU maintainer. 35 36 Olivier Rappaport is an European project manager at E-Seniors 37 association. Within the GNU Taler project, he is mainly involved 38 in testing the usability of the payment system. 39
