remove -f from readlink, tested on NetBSD/amd64.
Note that readlink(1) is a non-standard tool, but
using $(pwd) is not enough. This tool should be
standardized, but macOS has no -f according to
schanzenbach. I hope that this removal of -f
is portable across other platforms we use.
